Thinking Particles
Hi
I am new to thinking particles and have been experimenting. I have been using pstorm and ppostion follow to have the particles fly from the emitter to form an object. At a certain frame I want the emitter to stop emitting particles and for the existing particles (that have formed the object) to freeze in whatever state they are in. I would also like the particles to act dynamically instead of intersecting. Any ideas on how to do this? Many Thanks |

to stop emission you can use the "time control"-node (X-Pool/System Presets").
To learn , unpack that XGroupNode to see how it´s done. to freeze particles: set "speed" in PStorm to 0. I dont know your setup, but what you basically have to do is set the ParticleVelocity to zero as soon as they reach their goal position. i would do it manually, with some pretty basic vector math involved to have more control. for non-intersecting particles use dynamics. but this will slow down your setup depending on how many particles/what kind of shapes or geo you have. hope this helps. fuat __________________

Hi fuat
Thanks for responding. I have got the dynamics part to work but I am still struggling with getting the emitter to stop emitting when I want and getting the particles to freeze instead of dying after a certain frame. I would upload the file on here but I have been struggling to. Ive made a basic setup to show you how things are going to work, could I have your email to send it you? I would appreciate it if you could set these things up in the file I will send so I can see exactly how you do it. Thanks again |

for stopping the emission:
Maybe i am missing something here, but why don't you just animate your rate/shot/count value in the pStorm to 0. That would actually just stop the emission. __________________

Hi
I have already tried to do that but it doesnt let you for some reason, of course that would be the easiest way to do it ! |
