Drawing. Anatomy and general artistic technique.

Although I'm already reasonably good at 3D (nowhere near a professional level, though) I have very little grasp of traditional drawing technique.

I'd love to learn to draw, but I want to know where to start. I need some advice on where to start and go to when learning to draw the human figure, as well as in general drawing.

I've so far looked at Dynamic Figure drawing by David Finch, Drawing the Head and Hands by Andrew Loomis (although I have had a lot of trouble starting with this one, it's a little unclear for me where I should begin) and some general online tutorials.

Where would be the best to begin for a (late) beginning artist?

I would say anything by Vilppu is a great place to start when it comes to life, and figure drawing. He has a great selection of books, and I highly recommend trying to find some of his videos. He starts off from the beginning with gesture drawing, moves into form and contours and then from there goes into basic anatomy and lighting the figure, he also has videos just on anatomy. He teaches in a way so that when you complete the course and are comfortable drawing from a model you can ditch the model and just draw figures from your imagination, which is something every artist should be able to do in my opinion. Good luck.
