i'm not the greatest person to respond, but here's my take.
your subject appears to be a ballerina, or at least is striking a similar pose. However her pose is very linear and straight. There is effectively a vertical line going from her right hand to her left foot. If you look at ballerinas they tend to flow, and a straight line like this would probably be hard to find. So perhaps, if you do this again, start with a curved line of action. IMG IMG IMG furthermore, she is off balance. typically a person holding such a pose would lean forward strongly, and use her upper body and arm to balance out the leg's mass. this pose is not maintainable. it seems as if she should be in perspective, with her torso tilted towards the camera, leaning into it,and the raised leg receding into the background. if this is the case, you should emphasize the perspective, as I am not getting this sensation. the skirt and hair are articles influenced by secondary motion, but i cannot figure out why they are positioned as they are. perhaps you should figure out what pose she was in before this. ![]() CoolBird,
Have been out of town, sorry for not replying earlier. ![]() I think it would be helpful to see the reference from which you are working. Also, the sketch is at such an early stage that things could change quite dramatically as you continue to paint. Do you intend to use this in a final piece of some sort, or was this only intended as a sketch? ![]() Cheers, ~Rebeccak __________________
