Lemog - Wonderful view of the inner ear! Did you find the animation? Please post the link, I'd love to see it. And thanks for your kind words.

Haha, I love that thought - but I already did that in GSO challenge

rebeccak - glad to hear you like medical illustration! To me it has been the best way to be able to do more free, abstract work and still make it commercial. Might post more later

I like your collage pieces a lot. Great stuff.

Hey, guys, some cool posts here, both thoughts and images!

Queensoul,

If you make it...you must post it...

stipick_S,

Blame my bad sense of humor on growing up in the South!

jmBoekestein,

No problem, and thanks for the compliment and evocative thoughts! Definitely would like to see more of your color experiments!

Gunilla,

I totally see what you mean ~ you can get away with a lot of abstraction I'm sure with medical illustration, which is awesome!

Samanthie,

Ooh, I like this image! It's amazing what color and just a bit of recognizable form can do!

Swoop,

Thanks for posting here! Indeed, your picture is evocative, so it definitely belongs! I wish I could paint fast, but I paint at about the speed of a rhinocerous on tranquilizers sometimes it seems...

To me, before I read your description, it gave me a 'first day of the holidays' feeling. The shiny ripples look like shallow water on a beach, and the pale shape looks like a female body entering the water for the first time that year and going 'OOOH! COLD!' but loving it at the same time. I really love the watercolour look of your render, and if you ever feel like describing how you achieved this, I for one would be very very interested

Spirit Dreamer - really good to see more of your work, especially the sunset which is truly beautiful. In my opinion kind of sinister and uplifting at the same time, like when you go 'life is ****, but sometimes it's all the richer for that, and we came through it ok.' Bit of a weird interpretation of it maybe.

Admiration and best wishes to all

Amy

Sorry... I can't display the animation here... maybe another images of it... I watch that tomorrow.

Samanthie -> cool pic... but also disturbing... cause who watching me ? haha

Swoop -> the calm and the serenity fall on the city after an hard day of work... dream or reality ?

amy_517 -> If you can see all these things in this picture... certainly I'm not totally in my place in my job... hahaha, but it's very funny, very imaginative... cheer.

And the secret of the picture aspect ?
In first, images are render in Maya, with procedural shader.
I do a photoshop script to batch the image folder,
with these operations :
- duplicate the background layer,
- desaturate this new layer (ctrl+shift+U)
- invert (ctrl+I)
- use filter "Accentuated Edges" thickness = 2
- invert (ctrl+I)
- fusion "superposition" at 25%
- duplicate this new layer
- fusion "incrustation" at 50%
- flatten the layers.
- duplicate this new background layer,
- fusion "normal" at 70% of this new layer,
- on the background, use gaussian blur filter at "5"
- flatten the layers,
- use "automatic contrast" (ctrl+shift+alt+L)
- that's all !

Sorry my last post was so random, I just got back from the pub then and shouldn't have been allowed near the computer.

Thank you very much Lemog for sharing that I need to play more with Photoshop because as your image shows, batch processing can be really really cool for animations.

Thanks

Amy

woodyradica,

Ooh, this is really cool!!! May I make a suggestion? (And feel free to make recommendations for changes to any of mine, as they're all basically WIPs). I would recommend increasing the really nice dramatic effect of this piece by gradually darkening or lightening the ledges (depending on your light source) from top to bottom or from bottom to top ~ right now, while the painting treatment of each of the ledges is beautiful, they are all essentially the same color and light~wise.

But this is great, and I love the movement of the little creatures at the base of the picture ~ schweet!
