mattwright,

Happy to see you here! Your drawing is really nice, I really like the sensitivity in the shading and the attention paid to details. I think the best part of your drawing is the head and the area around her breast and the upper part of her stomach. I think her head has something of a Picasso-eque feel, which may have been uninintentional, and doesn't match the style of the rest of the drawing, but which I also happen to like. How lucky you are to work in a place where you get to figure draw every week! I would love to see your wife's work as well, and if she is willing to post her work, that would be fantastic!

Great post, and I hope to see more of your guys' work!

Hi Rebecca

Thanks for the reply! I will convince my wife to post some of her work! She studied under Vilppu, and just has awesome linework and weight.

The head and her left hand are actually unfinished They were just litterally roughed in, but I never got round to finishing them up.

thks

Raymi :
ball point pen is a very interesting tool with original effects
(we can obtain some photographic effects)
but its utilisation needs practice :

(1) the ball point of the pen should be used (corrupted) a little bit before drawing
for a slighter ink contact with paper
(for more details)
(2) the pen sould be maintained in +/- 45 (not vertically)
between 20 and 45 for better effects
and nuances
(3) the lines should have the same direction/orientation (diagonally) for a better contrast

Raptor3d:
yes, it's a (old) study from life

I will post other drawings later

Though its not dynamic in form, i tried to create a new kind of anatomy for the body and tried to distinct it trough shading

Max4d,

Great work as well!!! It's so cool to see the variety of work that people do! Keep on posting!

augustus,

Wow, only 1/2 hour? Great stuff!!! Thanks for posting this! You'll be excited to know that soon there will be a new "Open Figure Drawing Workshop" thread in which we will have photographs of models from which to draw. Many thanks to my friend Hong Ly for providing us with these excellent photographs which he has taken of professional models!

Memling,

Another gorgeous drawing!

el-vio,

Cool drawing! I would say to exaggerate MORE if you are really going to exaggerate things. Thanks for posting this, I hope to see more work from you!
