Importing OBJ - bevel problem

I've imported an object to do some additional edge work on it, yet, for some reason, if I try to bevel, it just moves the edges.

If I bevel edges on say a created cube, it works as expected, is there any "oddities" I need to be aware of regarding edge bevelling?

If need be, I can upload the object for others to take a look at.

S'okay, I managed to track down the info on the Silo boards.
Apparently edge bevel is known to have a problem with edges that are shared between more than 2 faces.
I was hoping to work in Silo to fix problems that would take longer in LW but it turns out I can actually fix them quicker in LW as Silo's edge bevel is still a bit iffy. Shame really.
