Manipulator (defaults?)

for some reason i can't keep my selections any more. when i click on a face or point or edge and release the mouse it doesn't stay as before. also the manipulators are totally white and not (rgb for each of the axes xyz) and when i move it it just moves the manipulator not the object.

which makes me believe that i'm in a different working mode. but i tried everything to get back to how it was before and i couldn't find a solutions. i tried to select the defaults in all the settings possible but nothing worked.

any idea?

by the way: the persistent selection is checked

but the selection still doesn't stay, so it's not persistent.

any idea?

strange really...
It never happened to me sorry... (and i never use persistnt selection in the preferences)
Maybe set all your preferences to default to see if that fix it ??

i tried but didn't work. really annoying.

maybe i need to re-install it.

in this extreme case, i think it must be related to your graphic card driver... I don't think reinstalling would change anythink
