Silo, I'm going crazy :\

Hi guys, I hope that somebody can help me

Try this scene: www.cgreality.com/files/silo_trouble/Scene2.rar

This is my trouble:

And this is what happens, even if you move that face a little 2 vertex are going to be merged automatically. Why?

I used to have the same problem. And curse myself because you can't undo it. The seam feature is only good if you have a complete model with no holes. Leave your eyes filled and bottom of the mesh filled until the very end. Mirroring is my biggest pet peeve with Silo 1.4, they are going to have true symmetry mirroring in Silo 2.0 but that's still a long way off.

Thanks you guys, turn Seam feature off helped me a lot.

Better that nothing but I hope that Silo2 will not have this problems.

Anyway, thank you again.

Hi there,

Yes, we will have much improved mirroring in 2.0. However, you can also have better results in Silo 1.42 while keeping your seam preservation by turning down the mirror seam tolerance in the options panel (Selection > Enable Mirror Seam Preserve > ... in the menus), which determines how close to the center verts on a hole can be without getting sucked into the center. Try putting the value very close to zero.

Wow, it works!

Thank you very much, now my workflow is even better.
