How to handle current uv mapping in 1.42

Have any of you any tips? All the uvs coming out of silo currently are a mess. I typically will bring the model into bodypaint and fix it up, but was hoping I may be doing something wrong. I am creating doing an automap, then creating a new material before exporting as a obj. The uvs are all over the place and overlapping like mad. Anyone know if I need to adjust a setting differently?

Your not doing anything wrong. UV's are kind of a crap shoot at the moment. You will have to continue fixing your UV's in bodypaint, and wait for 2.0 for real UV support in Silo.
