Cutting vertexes?

Each time I hit X to cut an object it only cuts it in vertex form.

I want it to be able to cut faces, I think I might have changed something by mistake.

Not sure exactly what you are getting at?

The cut tool works by adding vertices to edges and connecting them across faces to split them.

If you want to split a face in two - select the edges either side and hit x.

Pressing x with nothing selected activates the cut tool which enables you to split faces or cut into faces at any position rather than dead centre (which I guess is what you are doing?)

It's fixed, I must have selected a certain mode or something. I was selecting edges to split the faces but it wouldn't show up unless I went into vertexes.
