How to draw with pencil: rocks, water, clouds?

I've read lots of tutorials that describe how to draw clouds, but they were all digital, couldn't find anything for pencil. I also couldn't find anything that shows how to draw rocks/moutains and water/snow/steam.

I try my best in drawing those things but I just feel that I could do it so much better. I tried look at real samples and draw them but it just didn't come out right.

P.S. If I missed the tutorials for those things (pencil) on this forum... please forgive me and point me in the right direction.

bkboggy,

Try the following:

BEGINNERS' Drawing Workshop - Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=269026

TUTORIAL - Shading Techniques (Various Media)
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=273928

TUTORIAL - Traditional Pencil Shading - by Slux
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthr...80&page=3&pp=15

Beginners' Lounge
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=297229

None of these tutorials are for how to draw specific types of things, but rather describe general techniques for drawing. Anyone is free to use traditional or digital media for these threads.

Good luck!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Hey, thanks! Those looks pretty helpful, I'll check them out right away. By the way, I own a copy of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Not a bad book, it actually helped me a lot.

Still, those three things seem impossible to me.. here's my poor attempt at clouds by staring in the sky and doodling:

bkboggy,

Glad you found the tutorials useful.

I think your drawing so far looks quite nice!

Here's a tutorial I found through a 2 second Google search: "drawing clouds" + tutorial

http://drawsketch.about.com/od/draw...awingclouds.htm

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
