How to paint rocks and tiles ?

Heey there,
I'm bussy making a paiting with tiles with rock texture, but i'm totaly not famaliar with it.
Can u please give me some tips painting these tiles ( and rocks in overall ).

A good start is to take photos into photoshop and clone and copy them around. For jumpstarting take a look at the Free Content Textures section of my site.

Thats not painting rocks though is it.

If you are stuck, grab some ref pictures of rocks and study them... then do some practice paintings, quick ones and try and nail the look you want. I personally start with a dark colour and then add lighter elements and highlights. There are so many different types of rocks. But one thing to notice is that they are often made up of lots of colours, not just grey

Maybe it would be easier giving you a hint if you would post a possible image example that tends to go near what you would like to paint. Its very difficult to give some hints regarding that there are so many different rock structures. Cause the approach is very different in each case in my opinion. There´s also a difference in case you want to paint rocks in the distance compared to those big stones or rockfragments in the foreground of an image.
