Sorry that's as intelligible a comment as I can muster @ the mo...LYW

Sir that is quite impressive. I like how you went about exploding the creature form the ground and the lighting test looks tops.

Modeling: modelling main character

Here's how the main character is shaping up. Still missing a few details (& hair of course).
Thanks for all the kind words!
Rook- yup, tonally that lighting test doesnt really work as well as it could. The final shaders will have stylized rimlighting so hopefully that'll help pick out forms from all the detail & colour.
gra7- I don't use msn, but I'm in the cgtalk irc room sometimes (#cgtalk,, & my nick should be 'mb or 'mt.

Another modelling wip, just to see how everything's coming together...

Adriano, the rocks are a bit of freehand poly pushing (some jagged painted poly selections to cut out pieces of rock from a dense plane, rotated & moved around, & then made solid) with a procedural map on top for the cracks. The small bits & the flying chunks are particles (instanced geometry for the big bits), but I think I'll be changing that to get a nicer spiral...

This entry has easily moved up there as one of my favorites. It should easily make the next challenge book.

Texturing: texturing main character

here's the texturing so far. the lighting is rough, but is vaguely what i'm after tonally (the fill light will be more diffuse, via skylight or dirtmap) & the textures on the clothing aren't really reading very well so i'll probably redo those.
