I'm speechless. amazing work as for now. your dynamic shot reminds me of the very first paintings of... leonardo da vinci . it will be great scene: powerful yet simple (in meaning).
but still your golem needs a face and expression of just-awaken-beast. and I don't mean little, soft-looking face but a few more rocks in places for eyes, mouth, nose, brows. i saw similar effect in "merlin" movie with sam neill, when he was talking to the mountain. it looked great.
keep it up man!

Lighting: background lighting study

Here's a lighting test for the background objects so I can get an idea of how to tackle the texturing or further modelling. Good idea about the golem's face grooshka, I was originally just going to have something featureless apart from eyes (since the golem is supposed to be a lumbering mute), but it does need something else.

After doing this test render & realizing how explosive the volume lighing looks, I got the idea of adding some extra symbolism to the image, like that of the atom-bomb or a more explicit dna-style double helical coil of flying rock. The arcane diagrams on the ground & patterns in the clothing could incorporate chemical symbols (like a hexagonal benzene structure)...

wow, that looks really great so far, but are you going to add some environment around the character too???????

Nothing to crit for the story (unusial for me). Nothing to crit for the image. Great, just great. Dunno about the emotional stuff here. But I like the logics and sybolism of your story. Impressed with the lightning of the scene. What else can I say? COOL!

I like all the motion you have. For some reason the uncolored render reads better and has more of a feeling of destruction. Maybe the colors you have are contrasting a bit to much. Pretty cool effect so far.

woo really loving how this is coming along, and youve really stuck to your origional concept, thats great. I think about the emotional part of it not being there, just my 2 cents, but i think if the human in this scene is made with enough of a dramatic look and feel, the real urgency you have in the drawing (which going by so far you will do perfectly). i think the emotional strain will be very evident =D

once again good work cant wait to see more
