CIRCLE – A short film made with Blender

Hi there!

CIRCLE depicts a young woman in despair, who after experiencing a tragic loss escapes into the seemingly perfect past. She loses herself in vivid memories and starts to neglect her real life. A constant inner struggle emerges between past and present, distorting her perception of reality.

Directed by Alexander Heringer

Ahmad Saleh, a Student Academy Award winning screenwriter, wrote “Circle” to cope with the losses he endured during the conflict in the Middle East.

Nice work. You guys did a great job on this. And that ending shot was pretty captivating.
Was curious what camera was used for it?

We shot on the Arri Alexa in 2K Prores444. Let me know if you have further questions.

Very nice. How did you pull off that first vast swoop? 5 Seconds in I thought: Crane. 10 Seconds in I thought: Drone - but then you flew it in so close and steady without even the slightest bit of wind in the talents' hair that I rewatched it again to see if this was all CG

Hey! I'm glad you liked our intro sequence, thanks! The final sequence consists of two separate shots. We indeed used a drone for the first part and once we arrived the ground, we stopped the drone and only used the attached gimble as a steady cam for a second take. Later in post we matched the two takes. But I can tell you it was very complicated to match the two different live action sequences. Hope that answers your question?
