Coloring WIP: the planet



For the planet I'm using a simple sphere in max with a 1024x1024 texture. This will help me later on when I'll go into details and perspective problems.

Taz...you rule! Your work is wonderful, starting from your initial sketch. The ship rendering is also great. But don't forget to give the lower part of the hull some red coloration from the lighting of the planet. This is about the best I could come up with to criticize your awesome piece. Keep it going!

I'm cutting the destroyer from the background by using the Brush tool in Quick Mask mode.
PS: any questions about the techniques I used so far are welcome. I'll try to answer to all of you.

Stunning work there mate! The destroyer turns out to be a very creepy-gigerish-gigantic (last characterization left out) mothership! Very nice progress show off too!

There you go. Hope this quick example of texturing is ok. I used only Brush tool and Dodge tool with Highlights mode selected.

lol no i mean how did u go about making the ACTUAL TEXTURE before u started dodge tooling it and what not.sorry i probably wasn't clear enough.
