Hmm good point... I guess the artistic look of the piece is more important than the realism...

However, what about it not being a planet in our solar system (that leaves huge room for artistic leeway), but, as the human race became a huge galactic civilisation, they moved outside the boundaries of our solar system.

Their colonising equipment is fully developed, and the piece could be of the initial stages or whatever of some alien planet (which means it can look how ever you want it to) being converted into a habitable landscape... just an idea.

If not I think the moon could look cool, but you need to bear in mind some people may question its 'realism'.

Great that you've decided on mars, very logical thinking behind that one. Of course there wont be a sky if there's no atmosphere... only slight prob is that mars already has an atmosphere, just the wrong type for life... sorry if this messes you up... there's got to be a way arround it though, I mean either don't specify the planet as mars, or maybe give hints at a previous atmosphere, that has dissapeared (considering it's in the future, such a thing, although unlikely, could happen), and then you can have a stary sky etc.

Sorry to have put a spanner in the works so to speak,

But hey -the generator is looking great.

The challenge is supposed to be about a vast intergalatic civilization's
epic moment. Think big. So the planet should be in another galaxy.

This epic act changed the course of history. Maybe you can show two or
three galactic races working together to fix the HUGE generator which exploded
when a meteorite hit it.

Cool - sounds good - I think that userbrian has a very good point - maybe try to add a little more detail/history into the piece, it will make all the difference, I'm sure.
