Space Web

Hi everyone, this is my first time taking part in a CGtalk challenge. I have followed the past challenges, and to say - there are some amazing challengers here.

Before I post my concept:

My inspiration for this peice is mainly from Space elevaotrs. I have read about this project about a Space elevator that will connect earth to the space stations. Done thru a ribbon mounted on earth till space, and these elevartors will ride on these ribbons.

My idea will have tubes instead of elevators, and elevators will ride inside these tubes (not very realistic, but an idea ). The story is, earth has become heavily populated - with industries and other complexes that space for living is less, so this new technology has become a normal way of living now, with colonies in space connected to earth via tubes.

Some colonies totally man made, holding cities - while others on properly oriented asteroids - cities built on them and connected to earth via tubes. All of these are geostationary.
