very nice concept. The crescent looks a bit tight though in the composition! I'd suggest you give a little more space on the sides . Keep it up !

Two words suffice to describe this: wholly sh*t.

It certainly doesn't bode well for us untalented schmucks when you're producing art like that right out of the gate... which could undoubtedly do well in the 2D competition.

Looking at it again there's one thing that bothers me : the stringy elements that look like roots are 'hanging' off of the ring, as though they were in a gravity environment. If the ring were spinning, that effect wouldn't be there; if it weren't, such stuff would likely be going in random directions.
