zBrush/Maya Polygroup Problem


I'm using Maya 2014 and zBrush 6R6. However, the GoZ function does not seem to work for me since Maya 2014 may not be supportes as of yet.

I am trying to import a mesh into Maya by exporting it as a .obj first out of zBrush and then importing it into Maya. So far so good.

Problem is, the grouping of the polygons are weird and I'd like to know if there's a way to combine those back together. Take a look at the screenshot:

Smoothed view on the right.
I've tried to combine all groups, but that does not change anyhting.

Appreciate any help.
