working in photoshop with different grading?

hello, I am wondering if in Photoshop cs6 there is a way to increase contrast or change the grading of the overall viewer like in nuke, for example in nuke I can just make the whole thing brighter or more contrasty just for me to see it but without affecting the image itself. For the moment I am just adding an adjustment layer on top of everything and increase the contrast but that's a little annoying for some things like for example when I have to sample a color from the image, is there any way to do that? thanks
