The wind tower, Wenjun Lin (2D)

Title: The wind tower
Name: Wenjun Lin
Country: China
Software: Photoshop

hello~
I'm JUNC,come from china shanghai~
this work I completed in 1 year before the beginning of the first sketch in a little girl. Since then a little bit more to start the design attempt
I would like to portray a very oriental fantasy world, exaggerating, and magnificent buildings form a beautiful color of the Chinese style~
I hope you like it, at the same time to give the evaluation
Thanks~~

I really like the rich design of the world JUNC. The details really draw viewers into the world.

Woowhoo. That is impressive and rich in detail. I love heavy detail work. Your perspective is very well done (I've never been very good at landscapes and architures). I love the 5 pt. perspective for the curves of the towering buildings and their decorative outcrops. The character in the center is very tantalizing, and I love the flow of her costume. It's a style of dress I really like (wish I knew the name of such clothing or design style).

The costume hides some of her proportions, but I should mention that her back is a little ackward. The angle where the back bends back is too sharp and needs more muscle variations to account for it (especially a line where the skin folds over at the bending point). This is one of those things where you just have to practice.

I like the anime-like style of her figure, and her face is nice. The narrowing proportions are made accountable due to the purposefully warping perspective of the entire scene. The reds in her outfit are not too strong, and the dusty colors for the background show through, without imposing. Nice balance there. The knees of the legs need a little more work (more angle or point). I like the bridge with the lone figure on it, it helps to contain or frame the image.

The road's edge near the river is a little too secitonal, maybe a little smoother for the road's curves, because it's contrasting to the natural curve of the river itself. The feeling of the piece seems happy with an overturn of potential adverture or mystery, and one might expect from such a busy looking place. Keep it up. I look forward to see your next piece. Look at me chatting away. It's like I say, 'the more I like, the more I write'. Great job.

i must say it's a very beautiful piece of work.
Just one question: Did you render the character separatelly rather than rendering at once with the background? Because your lighting seems off. What I mean is.. it seems that the natural light for the background comes from the right side, where the sun is (because shades go towards left) and on the character it looks like light comes from Left.

maybe if u would flip the part with the character and place it to the right of the picture.. it would look much better.

Aniway/..background looks epic, and nice character design

Girl is beautiful but the more impressive is the detailed background, its perspective and color are just awesome.

A beautifully painted scene; background and girl. The buildings have a wonderful organic feel. Regarding your portrayal of an oriental fantasy world; have you read "The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer" by Neal Stephenson? Plenty of food for thought in that book which is set in a futuristic Shanghai (New Chusan) where society is run on a strict neo Victorian moral code. Thinking your young lady could very well be the heroine, the orphan little Nell.
