Thanks so much for the overwhelming feedback! Each time I post an image, I'm very curious what people think about it, so thanks for sharing your thoughts!

@RobertoOrtiz: Thanks a lot for the plug, much appreciated! Some more infos... I think while working on this piece, I tried to stay away from giving him a "basic" face expression (such as sad, happy, angry...) that allows only one interpretation. I tweaked it until I had the feeling that there were a lot of different expressions going on simultaneously, as if someone has gone through a lot of lucky and unlucky events and looks back at it with his inner eye while staring into the distance. It's a feeling which I sometimes discover when I look at old people's faces, their folds and wrinkles representing letters and inkstrokes in the chronicle of their existence.

Cheers,

Michael

Lovely work as usual, Michael. I particularly love the colour palette. I like the way that the face has a rather monkeyish aspect to it- as if they sent monkeys out into space and they were gone so long they have actually evolved towards humanity...and they're coming home to a rather different species of 'humans'. Very nice touch!

This was very well accomplished ! That explains the 'wisdom' look and feel.

Really appreciate this piece, what I mostly like on figure drawing, painting or 3D is to find nice expressions, if a character 'talks' by itself then we made it 'magic'.

Cheers,

Amazing piece!

Exceptional & extraordinary work Michael (as per usual from your talented hand!)

You've definitel captured a full 'range' of expressions there, as you suggested earlier, and it works extremely well

5***** without question!
