You already know how brilliant I think this is Phil. Just astoundingly well done, and with so much imagination.
Do you know the 'Tomographs' (spelling?) of Patrick Woodroffe? If you haven't seen them, I think you'd get a big kick out of them, looking at this. Examples are in a book of his from a few years back called 'Hallelujah Anyway'.

Thank you W.A. Udara, and thanks so much again for stopping by Nick - I have had a good browse of Patrick Woodroffe's stuff and I'm blown away - thanks mate, I always love discovering new artists! I think your stuff is stronger though - your Bug World work is just mind-blowing. Thanks, man.

The sense of realism in a fantasy subject is really hard to achieve, and you have nailed it really nicely!

Awesome, how do you make the texture and the detail?
Old 06 June 2008   #29
I love this. Beautiful translucence in the wings. Nice textures, the scene looks great... Good work...! Now go grab a pint at Temple bar to celebrate a job well done

Plugged to the front page.

Ah Mike thanks so much! I really appreciate the plug. I literally just clicked on 2 minutes ago to see that, cheers! Pint in Temple that sounds lovely Simon, all the detail is just lots of painting and overlaying details, blending them down, dodging and burning light with a tiny hard-edged brush - just built up piece by piece, layer by layer.
