Lava City, Dylan Cole (2D)

Title: Lava City
Name: Dylan Cole
Country: United States
Software: CINEMA 4D, Photoshop

This is a personal piece that I did. I had painted lava so much in landscapes I wanted to do one with a city. I had a lot of fun doing this one. The building n the left on the foreground was modeled in Cinema 4D and then I got impatient and just textured it in the painting in photoshop. I did this in my free time over a few weeks. Final image was 4096 pixels wide.
I have included a detail and my original sketch.

Very nice blend of urban landscape structures. Lighting is fantastic. It's amazing that electrical power is still on while lava is streaming

Fabulous job, congrats,

On the contrary, the lava would make geothermal power a cinch. If this were a regular city being overwhelmed by lava, I doubt anything would remain standing.

Great work, fantastic atmosphere.

Wow... looking into the closeups shows how much detail is in your work. Nice!

The only thing I would like to see is some very slight touches on highlights for the lava. It looks a little murky right now. Here's an example of what I mean: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/d...ocalnews5_b.jpg

Still.... unbelievably awesome
