What are those red things? Is there a story, Nick?

I like it. It would be more amazing if there was only one red ship though (the one in the foreground only). At first I only saw that one. After some time, I realized there are 2 more and I was kind of disappointed for some reason. It would be more mysterious if there was only one.

Haha! Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! I am pretty new to CGSociety (after losing CGHUB the other week D: ) and am very humbled by this piece being showcased.

I did not start with any particular story in mind; it evolved from an alleyway into the cliff-faces you can see now. My thoughts now are that these red ships would be part of an exploration/recon team who have wandered too far from their designated flight-path and discovered something much older and darker than they were ever expecting. Something horrible may be watching from the shadows of the dusty graveyard world that is yet to reveal itself.

Funny thing is, I had only one ship in the foreground there for a couple of days but couldn't hep but feel like it needed more red. I tried some other ideas (such as people or flags) but none seemed to work at the stage of the painting I was at. I do agree though that it was more lonely and mysterious with just the one.

I'm glad that you like it none the less and really appreciate the feedback. More is always welcome.
