"Eww.. that gives me the creeps", Michael Williamson (2D)

Title: "Eww.. that gives me the creeps"
Name: Michael Williamson
Country: United Kingdom
Software:

I haven't posted here in ages!
Interesting that "artrage" isn't in the "software used" category for submissions...(that's what I used to paint this).

I did this for a challenge to create a monster just for fun

I tried to do it in a "caravaggio" style, but my brush work is just too crass... Perhaps if i spent another day on it....

I really enjoyed painting the hands on this one... perhaps going overboard.... I used to dread doing hands, but a friend of mine "opened my eyes" to their expressive potential... I'm now a fan of hands.

The style is a bit rough but it seems very effective to me. I love the monster's expression!

Thankyou! I thought for a bit that this one would pass by completely without comment... Always a disappointment!

It is rough, but I'm often working even looser than this.. sadly this is quite "worked up" for me.... To really nail the Caravaggio thing it could have done with another layer of detail, but I must admit that I find it strange how "smooth" a lot of the popular art is here...

I'm glad you liked his expression!

I sure know what you mean. Much of the work here is so polished, it sometimes looks rendered or photographed, even when they say it's not. Personally I like a style that looks like painting, but that's just me. It's all good stuff.
