Enslave series - Kelumar light vessel: mattepainting, Andrey Kovalchuk (2D)

Enslave series - Kelumar light vessel: mattepainting
Name: Andrey Kovalchuk
Country: Russia
Software: Photoshop

I drew pixel graphics for one game on PPC and this motivate me to create series about this fantastic game.
I pictured one of the planets, to be more exact it`s small part of the
landing zone which is situated among the rocks and belongs to Kelumar race.

That's some really amazing work! In the muted palette, the reds really reach out and grab your eyes. Wonderful work!

As I mentioned in other threads you are an outstanding matte painter! This particular painting is another example of your exceptional skills. To my taste this scene, however, is less appealing compared to your other paintings. I personally much prefer your marvelous landscapes of “old countries”. Having said that, I am sure there will be a lot of people who would disagree with me. Anyway, please keep on delight us with your outstanding work!

This is one of the best concepts that I have seen lately.
You rock.

The colors are great, and I like the design of the ship/tower, however, it may have worked better if it were closer to the center of the image. Right now, the long black arc against the lighter background at the left edge leads my eye out of the painting rather then into the painting.
