Raining Canyon, Michael Lee (2D)

Title: Raining Canyon
Name: Michael Lee
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

This painting is part of a series of tree house based environments. The most challenging part of this piece was making the highly detailed bark look wet. Overall, this was a very exciting piece to create.

Ooooh, the rain/mist is really well depicted. There's a sense of intrigue about it that I really like...I can stare at those ripples in the water for awhile, haha. Maybe make the green light a little more bright or saturated to give that part of the piece more focus though...? But overall very very nice!

That's really neat, I love it. I like all the details.. can't stop looking at it!
The bridges are especially nice. Bridges like that are cool.
I wish there were some darker darks in it, though. (EDIT: Or maybe my computer is too light.. Now that I'm looking at it on another computer, it seems much darker...)

Are you going to do more treehouse paintings?

, you can really see the amount of work you put in this, the rain and the wet look is fantastic , ps i like the river with the drops creating round waves and the reflections on it, 4 and a half stars from me.

Great work. It was definitely worth putting the time into the bark. Like the lighting around there too. Reflections are great in the water... looks really.. watery :P. If I could give one crit though.. it kind of seems like you didn't put a lot of effort into the bottom left (waterfall) of the painting? Anyway.. congrats!

hi mike, your concept of the trees, and the whole composition is fantastic as the darker colours you´ve use. I like the water ripples on bottom.

best

Most often when I look at a landscape I look for a character in it to give me a base or anchor for the interaction with the scene. However in your work the landscape is the character. Amazing stuff.

I like this one allot.

The gloomy rainy feel is great, and it really stands out, makes me want to explore the environment the painting depicts

Great stuff

Nemes
