It's been a bit of a while, but I thought I'd post this. Completed for a Thunderdome Challenge, where the theme was 'Industry', and which had some fantastic entries.
She's based on 'Rosie the Riveter' by Norman Rockwell, of whom I'm a huge admirer. I used reference for the drill; as whilst looking for ideas I discovered a brand called Rockwell, so couldn't resist it! To dirty things up I used a personal texture overlay on the drum and drill, otherwise all painted in Photoshop 7.
This is the first idea based on the 'Saturday Evening Post' Rockwell image, as a magazine cover, and below you can see it without text and a close-up. 'The Manchester Daily News' is not a real newspaper! ;) Thanks for looking!
And a close-up:

Cool picture man!
I like better the sharpen looking of the first one. Also the textures on the picture.
Specially the acrylic paint looking of the background British flag!
Just one thing that I would critic, I miss a clearer direction or intention of the lightning!

You definately captured the feel of the Rockwell style. Very well done! The little badges are an excellent touch!

She is a hot little lady! This may just be me, but it seems like she has the boots on the wrong feet. Regardless, I'd love to take a break with her!
Massive update to my site, tons of new art!

I love it when you post!
I see your name, click the link,
And wait for the image to reveal itself...
Its like unwrapping a Christmas gift
I know its something I want, but I dont know what.
Finally, the image has unwrapped itself and I am happy.
Maybe you can round up all your lil' elves and gift wrap
some tutorials or "A making of " for all us good kids?
Thanks for the inspiration!

Smoken hot work... and the girl too.
Seriously, this is top rate. How do you vote for stars? I've never done it before but I've got to try it for this one!
But then, I've been a long time fan Posh... from ConceptArt. I've even got a special folder for ya.

Excellent work once again! Nice to see you finished it!
It all looks ace - the pose, the shading, the details and the general idea of having it as a magazine cover is good too. I really love the detailing on the arms and hands. Nice blue peter badge detail!
The only things im not too keen on is the twix bar. Maybe a 50's themed 'frys' choc bar or even a 'marathon' would work better. Possibly a kitkat? Theyve been around for ages... The beer run-off looks a little strange to me. It looks a bit like candle wax or spit at the moment. Only minor things though.
Lets hope you get frontpage with this - its been very stale and full of promotions and offers recently - we need more user work on there!
Now get cracking on your spectacular concept! Not long left!
