Young Witch, Jesper Nordqvist (2D)

Title: Young Witch
Name: Jesper Nordqvist
Country: Sweden
Software: (Other), Photoshop

This young witch has probably tried to grasp more than she can hold when trying to summon a creature from the abyss...

I actually drew the girl on a giant B3 paper, then copying it to A3 so I could scan it... So the original image is quite large. I'm quite happy with this pic, it's still one of my best even though it's over a year old by now.
I created the lace by using a tip from my master Masamune Shirow in his Intron Depot 2 book; create brushes from a calligraphy font and use them to draw the lace. However I went the hard way and actually created them via text, modified to fit in...

The background it is a screenshot from a Unreal Tournament 2003 map, though it's modified a little for this pic. Credits to the mappers at Epic Games.

C&C?

Background from UT2K. Originally... Lazy...

The illumination does not correspond to conditions. And the girl drops out of a background.

I think her right leg is far too contracted. With some tweaks and the comments above this could be a good peice.

Yeah.. -- I'm too lazy for making real backgrounds... I don't have time to spend as much time, if not more, on the background as on the character.. >_>
I'm mainly a character artist... It's very rare for me to actually have planned a background before I start painting the character.

But, I guess I could have done more to make it fit in.
And I quite like her sticking out, as the character is the important part. The background is just there to set the mood.
More atmosphere and a more red glowing ground could be something though.

I almost never go back and correct old images, it's too much work.. I rather move forward.
But I need comments to improve further on - so, thanks
