Black Gooba, Richard Lyons (2D)

Title: Black Gooba
Name: Richard Lyons
Country: Australia
Software: Photoshop

This piece was done completely in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet, no scans or pre sketching. On closer inspection it is still quite loose and has a sketch feel. I donít know if I will continue with this image but I will definitely expand on the creature.
Love to know what you think,

Cheers RLyons

hey, tat's a really cool painting!
I really like the head and back rendering and design. I am not so sure about the hands and feet design,
but anyway, this is very cool stuff.

one crit.. i think that between the fins on his back there should be a stronger outline between them..

Great stuff, I love the musculature of it. Very well done too. You had nice idea with the holes with blue light. It makes more Sci-Fi climat.

Nice work with the character. It's got a Joe Madureira feel to it, with maybe a bit of the ol Humburto Ramos. You wouldn't happen to be an old Cliffhanger comic book fan? Anyway I really like the character... though I think the feet are perhaps too robotish to be consistant with the way you've designed the back. I like the joints just not the standard hydrolic robot feet.

This is good but the character doesn't fit the background, maybe tilt the rocks under the character more, it seems like my looking DOWN the rocks and ACROSS to the creature at the same time, this is a shot for a smaller creature running and jumping off the cliff and the camera is looking at the drop. The good thing about digital is it's easy to fix and it doesn't cost any money for supplies he he he. Great character design.
