Oil Angel, Bernd Angerer (2D)

Title: Oil Angel
Name: Bernd Angerer
Country: United States
Software: Photoshop

Apocalyptic Vision about an angel trapped in sticky oil.
Was it a ship accident?
Did he fell into the oil fields?
Not sure if it is about environmental issues, or warfare, or both.

Photoshop, no references.
A few weekends.

Looks great! Nice idea too - ive never seen anything like that before, as much as i tire of seeing cliched angel pictures - its nice to see something different!
My only crit is that the oil could use some specular - it looks a little too matte at the moment.
Nice work!

I think the pic would look a lot better if the oil was darker and had more shiny highlights. Fantastic image though and a wonderful idea that was well executed!!

Thumbs up

Great Image w/excellent form, I agree about the darkness & specular levels. Oil also has a translucent appearence, I see the skin tone on his face. Do a web search for Oils spills & aquatic life effected. They always have images of birds. Super Image!

Wow. thanks for the comments. I actually agree with the darkness/highlights comments.
I'll try to find some time to address some of that.

thanks

what a great way to spend a few weekends.
picture is beautiful, though it hurts to look at it.
great job. effective grayscale, but i think bit more glossyness and contrast in surfaces, as well as some reflection could have enhanced the concept even further.
