Mood Painting - Snow, Jm Ringuet (2D)

Title: Mood Painting - Snow
Name: Jm Ringuet
Country: United States
Software: Photoshop

A rather quick painting I did to create a sense of mood with lighting and composition. I really wanted to convey a feeling of coldness both in the weather and characters.
There was no specific inspiration for the piece, an image just popped into my head and I tried to translate it into a painting.
All done in Photoshop but trying to emulate an analog look (tricks, tricks, tricks).

Just nice!

Great piece, well done... ! the only critic or "suggestion" i think, is to try to paint the sky a little more white to the horizon and more gray to the top, in order to create more deep. Other wise if the storm is really heavy just leave all in white or the way it is right now! nice piece of work!

Jm,

I like your snow effect, only fewthings i wish were differnt, Her hand, they look out of place, rework the fingers most of all.

maybe a nice colored glove would be more fited in the winter time?

maybe a hint of red in her nose

Thanks for the comments guys.

Rizo: you're right about the sky. I actually was thinking more about where the light was coming from than the depth in the sky, so it looks pretty uniform now. I'll see if I can fix that.

NileshXYZ: yeah the painting was done quicky so it didn't rendered the hand nicely and it looks maybe too broken, especially for a female character. Gloves are an idea but I wanted the hand to be clearly visible on the dark coat which is why I painted it that way. Believe it or not I had some red on her nose but somewhere along the way, I guess by painting highlights, I kind of lost that. I agree that it would look better.

Like I said it was a rather quick painting focusing on mood so I overlooked a few things. Thanks for pointing them, and I'm happy that you are enjoying the image.

Smile Mood Painting- Snow

Although the execution is a little stiff, I still like this work. Your sense of composition is good and you actually sense the personality of the woman.

Thanks for all your comments.

Charlie, could you please elaborate on the 'stiff' comment? Thanks, that would be appreciated.
