Obsidian World - Karra, Yee-Ling Chung (2D)

Title: Obsidian World - Karra
Name: Yee-Ling Chung
Country: Malaysia
Software: Photoshop

My latest work done for a RPG tabletop game book cover, "Obsidian World". This is the cropped front cover. It's my honor working on this project, and I really thanked my client giving me the freedom to explore how's the final style should look like, learned a lot from this. enjoy

Thumbs up

Hehehe. I would've liked to have seen more obsidian on her (but maybe that's actually a good thing, since there's nothing sharper in nature than shards of obsidian). I can see that you went to town with a brushing technique to make the fur lining around her costume (especially at the bottom). It looks good at the shoulders, arms and torso, but it looks like you got carried away at the hips with that fur (gets a bit messy-looking as it wraps around her). It's not too bad, but it does kind of distract me from the details you've created on her upper half. I like the tattooing, the eyes and the hair design (although you've should've brought the head out a bit more in the back; since short-cropped hair can't hide the shape of the back of the head, and yours isn't quite right; it's close, but not quite there; it's a subtle difference).

I like the little devil-cat creature in the back (feels like it would become her pet; or it already is). Nice expression on the person and a classic pose. There's a lot of details, but the overall composition doesn't look cluttered or cumbersome, so great job there. Your atmosphere and background design is fairly simple, but carries a lot of character and works well with the theme (especially like the purple lights and how you did the moon). Overall, a very successful piece. Keep it up. Great job.
