A couple of years ago I asked to super talented Noah Klocek if I could use one of his character for a character stylist practice, unfortunately, soon after I started I had to put it back on the "WIP drawer" as work became really time demanding.
Last Christmas I had the chance to finish the character.. and here is the result!

incredible!

Awesome stuff you have there Carlos, I love both the design and the execution!! it feels like a 3d render, although is a 2D painting, incredible! I also like a lot the silhouette you get in the character, those straight created with the arms continuing in the head are awesome, works really well!!
could you share a bit the process on creating something like that?

Hey Metamesh, thanks a lot for the nice words and for showing interest on the process.
I prepared a sheet with a bit of the process and if I find some time I will put together a video with "time-lapse" (sort of...)

Yeah" I reckon he would be a cool character to animate... he has been asleep for 100years, so the animation would be clumsy and slow.. maybe with little spasms.. Any taker? hehe

Very cool. I like the silhouette of the character, especially with his spindly legs and flattened head shape. You did a great job incorporating textures and such onto the character. My favorite parts are the bits of moss and dirt clinging and growing from him. I don't like his beard, though. The way you shaped it is like it was cut with a really sharp knife to get that curved edge. I feel that a longer, more ragged and tapered beard would've match the ruggedness of the rest of his outfit (especially after having slept for so long). Interesting idea with the musket and I like that you aged it as well. Nice expression on the face, too (His eyes look all droopy, like he wants to go back to sleep). Overall, a really successful piece. Keep it up. Great job.

It's funny you mention about the beard, I totally agree with you, it was the hardest thing to do! I tried to make it look messy and rough but every trial was unsuccessful as the character started looking more like an illustration style instead of a fake 3D.
I guess I should have been less lazy and kept trying..
