Media Paints the Candidates, Michael Ulrich (2D)

Title: Media Paints the Candidates
Name: Michael Ulrich
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

This isn't about the candidates. It's about how media paints and frames the candidates. It's about how media paints the candidates painting their opponent. It's ridiculous.

Thumbs up

I like the statement, and thanks for explaining it (could easily have mistaken it for a personal rant on the canidates). Whats more, it's rather believable (the media does seem to portray them that way; drama sells I guess). My favorite part is the Obama artist (I like how you characterized him, even if its from behind). His body has more expression and the caricature is more recognizable. Rommey's a little harder to identify (having Obama there actually helps ID him). I like how you did the portraits and easels. Romney's stool doesn't seem grounded to floor, though (looks like he's about to tip over). Overal, you did a really good job with this piece. Very solid execution. Keep it up. Great job.

That's clever, and I like the way you executed it. It looks like it could be in a newspaper. The only thing that stood out for me is that the Romney character is wearing a black shirt in the left picture and a white shirt in the right picture.

Thanks for the comments. Great catch on the jacket Sabra. I was wondering if anyone would notice. You're the first! I originally drew Romney with the jacket on but realized the contrast would be better with a white shirt. It also allowed me to add some detail unique to those in the LDS faith (garment lines under shirt).

The stool is intentionally kittywompus to make things feel off-balance. This was a fun piece to do and was originally sketched with bic ink pen and then touched up in photoshop.

Thanks again for the comments
