The Roxxon Melee Drone, John Hayes (3D)

Title: The Roxxon Melee Drone
Name: John Hayes
Country: USA
Software: Maya, Modo, Photoshop, ZBrush

One of the first enemies designed for the Iron Man II video game. This design went through several revisions to help establish the look of a purposeful, military-like enemy that has less advanced technology then that of Iron Man.

This model was modeled, UV's layout, textured and rendering done in Modo. Several green armor parts were exported into Zbush for surface detailing and then re-imported back into Modo for texture rendering. The completed model was exported into Maya for rigging and in-game CGFX shader set-up.

The completed in-game model consists of 10618 triangle polygons and 2x 1024 texture map sets for Diffuse, Normal, Specular, and Illumination.

This model is featured in a press release by Luxology here:
http://www.luxology.com/press/release/20100503_Luxology_SEGA_Iron_Man_2/

It can also be seen in issue #15 of 3D Artist magazine in an article about the art of the Iron Man 2 game:

The fully textured High Rez Sub-D Model that I created, can be seen in the Sega Iron Man II Prologue trailer.

Well good job!

there are some mistakes in the normal map

and I think it could be more details on the surface like damger and cracks

The bevel on the edge is not so good

The green colour surface could be more changefully

Thanks for the praise guys!

DaveMcMahon - I will post some wire frames next week. The poly count is fairly low.

devileater - I would have preferred a more weathered surface with scratches, dents, and dirt however this design needed to stay clean. The rendering errors where removed after this model sheet was created: A in game shot can be seen here:

Hehe.

I asked a Russian co-worker for a Russian word for robot or something I don't remember exactly. However I might have misspelled it or gotten the font wrong. Nobody else noticed!

How does it read to you...if at all?

Cheers

It sais 'иерБЫи' ('ierBYi' in latin letters). The fourth and the fifth letters in capital, I really can't tell why . I speak russian, and this makes no sense . What comes to mind is the word 'Первый' ('Pervyi'), which would mean 'First', and since you already have the robot labeled with 01 I'm guessing this is what you were initially going for. So you either did misspell , or your coworker is an impostor. Just kidding. Btw I use google translate for this kind of stuff, more reliable. Regards.
