Transylvanian Moonlight, John Robertson (3D)

Title: Transylvanian Moonlight
Name: John Robertson
Country: United Kingdom
Software:

The terrain, winter surfacing, and sky/clouds are created using Terragen2 with a population of XFrog firs. Photoshop post work: The moon is extracted and integrated from a royalty free stock photo, with some strands of cloud repainted over it; bats painted in; as is the building with reference to a photo of Bran Castle (supposedly the inspiration for Dracula's abode) found at Wikipedia.

C & C welcome.

Wow, very eerie, reminds me of LOTRs... I don't know if it's my ridiculously old and crappy monitor but there are a few dark areas, specifically the foreground, bottom right. I can't tell what's happening there. Looks like possibly a snowy slope? Awesome image though, most of it looks very real and well executed. Well done!

that`s not Transylvania, haha i know i live there, been to Draculas castle ^.^

anyways, great render and reprezentation, tho i have a small crit, the moon is too big. I know it`s an effect and all, but take a pic with your camera/phone and compare the sizes

keep up the good work!

take care

Thanks for the critiques guys:
Ereneflor: The ground falls away there and is in shadow. I could have forced detail to appear there in Ps but decided to leave it dark to balance top left of scene.
AlexCo: Yeh, the moon is too big to be realistic at that height, it's maybe that size near the horizon where it is magnified through more atmosphere. I'm begging artistic licence here for effect. And you're right my mountains are too alpine to be a true depiction of the Carpathian mountains, even the rockier Fagaras in the centre of the range. It's more my B-rated horror movie depiction of a fictional Transylvania.
