I disagree with just about every crit you've got here - apart from the tip of the nose, it does look a little washed out. But really, that's just nit-picking for the sake of it. Stunning work, Seb. 5* and I've no doubt this will be plugged.

The skin is really nice..also the rendering.

I wanted the face to simulate the sudation after a hard work under the sun, reinforced by the bright sun on the goggles and with the contracted facial expression.
Now I realise the under noise shouldn't be as wet at the reste of the face...
Here's a non textured render of the high res mesh sculpted by hand in zbrush, with just the shaders applied :

Believe you can, believe you can't ... Either way you're right.

Thumbs up

Looks fantastic! My only comment is on the plastic googles. They don't have a scratch! Googles are the first to get scratched. The ones you have are just too perfect. But other than that, you did a great job. Congrats for the frontpage!

nice work! the only thing that's really bothering me is the bump on his chin and around the mouth - makes him look carved out of polystone - too harsh

Old 09 September 2006   #24
amazing details in that head piece..did you work from real life reference or photos?

I think that bit of chipped paint on the earpiece is the perfect touch!
Old 09 September 2006   #25
Wow!! How crazy are those details!!
Great job dude

I Would think he isnt a pilot since pilots often had protection and oxygan tubes around there face... i could be wrong and mabey they leave those tubes in the plane but i think he looks like a regular guy who works on the aircraft carrier itself guiding the planes in, unhooking them or even signalling at takeoff....

The amount of gasses, rubber and dirt and other nasty stuff thats in the air there should cause him to be more dirty

But that is only my humble numble opinion.

I like him anyways

excellent, 5 stars from me too. the expression is perfectly believable and the model itself is really asskicking.
Old 09 September 2006   #28
can you post a wireframe please? even of the lowpoly model.. thanks!
Old 09 September 2006   #29
Excellent job, Sebastien!

However, I'm not too happy with the harsh bump around the neck area as Magdalena stated. Also, I think the ear pieces would do better if the large chipped paint wasn't so large...perhaps scratches and minor chips would do it better. Then again, these are only minor crits.

I'm interested to see what you come up with next.
