Good render, but the avatar ruins it all!

In all honesty, I think there are far better renders of hard surface objects than this. Why is this on the front page? I took a look at your web site, and I think you have more impressive work than this already. The undercarriage of the car is indeed a bit too dark (IMHO) and the paint and windows are a bit too reflective. Also, if you look at the BG plate, it seems that you may want to try a slight DOF as the car recedes from the camera. Most of this has been noted already.

On a side note, the fact that you have nearly as many posts about your avatar (pro and con) as you do about your work should say something to you. Don't you want your work to be judged without any of this other, political, nonsense? Or, do you just like the attention? The global CG community is so full of talented artists and technicians, it's a shame when external issues interfere with the free exchange of ideas related to our wonderful medium. Just plain sad.

A simple model in front of a photography.

Back to art.

Modeling - good

Texturing - needs additional work. Metal looks like plastic, front lights not looking like out of
glass.

Lighting - strong contrast in a environment asking for global illumination. Needs farther
work. Lighting of background and the object are not the best matching.
