Ingres, Laverdet (3D)

Title: Ingres
Name: Laverdet
Country: France
Software: Zbrush And Carrara3

Hello!... I was luckily enough, there is about 10 months, to be involved in the beta ve"rsion of zbrush 2... at that time, I was looking mostly to go "out" of the "nake and bald" character, who was impossible to use in illustration( most of the times...)... I try the beta on a "pastiche" of french painter of the 19 century, Ingres... I was very excited by rthe complicated, sophisticated, clothes, and their dickensian look, so characteristic of the upper class in 19century... I was to be anyway a bit charicatural, to go more on modernity... after abouit 3 hours of sculpting, i go with that character... alsio, I've tried to get in carrara the "painter"s light: diffuse, and direct from north... like a painter's atelier... except the eyes, and the wallpaper, everything is of course ūre modelling... no texture at all, on the character, as I think that the goal in sculpting is to get as close as possible of the black and white photography, without any textures mapping...

and also,... I don't draw directly what I'm sculpting, but I often draw "around", most of the time in "comics" style, to play ... just to get a feeling of what I'm "after"... here is one of these drawings...

Looks wonderfull!

I think the bump in the face could be smoothed off a bit, none the less looking great! I also like untextured models alot.
