Ice Elemental, Philippe Nouhra (3D)

Title: Ice Elemental
Name: Philippe Nouhra
Country: France
Software: Lightwave 7.5c

This project is a personal work i made to test some modeling tools and try to achieve a convincing ice shader.
Everything's done in Lightwave 7.5, the ice shader is fully procedural.

very cool dude, ha get it, cool. sorry that was lame. anyway i actually really like this. the effect looks like the x-ray material that uncon did a tutorial for, the look is really awesome. any possibility of animating it.

i love the model too, really nice work.
Take a look at whats inside the square before you try and think outside of it.

i really like this, very slick. it might look a bit more convincing if you put some steam comeing off the extremities as the ice looks as if it's wet, i.e. in room temperature.

good work.

That is a very nice shader, it does remind me of ice very well. As for the model though, it's very good but it doesn't seem much like an ice elemental to me. He looks more like an alien ice sculpture. Try thinking of all the things that remind you of ice besides just the coloration and throw some of that in there. Look at Sheeva from the Final Fantacy's She was always just a chick, but her outfit and her manner always made her seem like a creature of ice.Part of it might be the light coming off of him, it looks cool but it makes him look a little like the Dredge from Titan A.E. A more dinamic pose might help as well.

All in all, excelent texture, good model, doesn't particularly make me think ice elemental, but good model none the less.

Any chance at getting a screengrab of your surface settings?
