Name: Andrew Hickinbottom

Personal work.

Another picture of my cool, colourful friend Cara!
Her look is based on what she was wearing at a party we recently went to.

Great as always. Nice reflections on cloth... this is the first time I experience it as CG render which usually bothers me a little bit, but in this case it is very positive aspect of the image.

Its a latex rubber dress - its meant to be shiny :-)

Very well done technically and visually, though, and I hate to say this since it is based on someone you know ... she has very manly features in her face. If that is intended, than awesome!

My apologies for any offence.

Your style is amazing! It's enough to look at the thumbnail of your work to know it's yours!! Just incredible! Congratulations! Another masterpiece!

I second Maciej, you're one of a few artists I can recognize the author by looking at the art. Very well done, congratulations!!
Could you, please, tell a little bit about your workflow? Nothing too specific, just some touches about how you work. Do you start by drawing on paper/Photoshop? Do you start modeling in ZBrush and retopo in Max or you model everything in Max and use ZBrush to add details here and there? Do you model in the final pose or you pose the character later in ZBrush or with a simple rig in Max? Sorry for that many questions!

Cheers!

+1 the chin is quite strong imo2

It's hardly outside the range of normal female features, especially bearing in mind that it's based on a real person. Very few real life people fit the exaggerated stereotypical ideal. I don't think there's any danger of confusing this for a drag queen.

A strong chin isn't necessarily gender specifically male. Look around you.

Hahaha, this is ridiculous.

She does have quite strong facial features. She's half Malaysian, so she has some asian characteristics such as strong cheekbones and a broad face. I like interesting faces - i find them more intriguing and beautiful than 'conventional' faces a lot of the time, and i think my friend Cara is really cute and sexy!

Davius - I did a 6 part tutorial / walkthrough for this character (in a different outfit / pose) for 3DCreative magazine. Go search for it - its the biggest and most comprehensive tutorial ive ever (and probably will ever) done - all the questions you seek and more are in it. I think it will also soon appear in its entirety in an Ebook and magazine soon.

Thanks folks!
