Mountain Mauler, Thomas Feiner (3D)

Title: Mountain Mauler
Name: Thomas Feiner
Country: Sweden
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay, ZBrush

A personal elaboration based on a commissioned piece I did. Interior is 3D, exterior is 2D matte painted. Characters and hammer modelled in Zbrush, the rest in 3ds Max. Rendered with Vray. Comments very welcome.

Most excellent picture Thomas!
I especially like the dynamic pose of the troll, quite a feat with the belgian blue anatomy
The small details (the scientists and their tech!) of the picture and the overall atmosphere is also super.

Thanks Amir and Sevenfingers! The bulkiness was key to the troll figure. Been trying to keep the size of hands and feet down in relation to an absurdly expanded muscle mass, much like bodybuilders have relatively small hands in relation to the size of their arms. And yes, the bulkiness proved something of a challenge in the posing process!

Thanks RWvision.

Given the size of the image it's difficult to fit it into the maximum upload size, but here are a few full-res crops. Right-click and open them in a new window or tab.

Awesome! Very cool and unique piece!

Was it inspired by a tunnel boring machine?

The final result looks amazing! Great job on the texturing and rendering on top of the sculpting.
