Grulon, Marcus Dublin (3D)

Title: Grulon
Name: Marcus Dublin
Country: USA
Software: 3ds max, Mudbox, Photoshop, VRay

Here's a character that I made for my follow up visit to SCAD
(Savannah College of Art and Design). The Grulon character was the
focus my workshop / lecture; which primarily focused on concept design,
digital sculpting, and texture / material creation. As for the subject
matter; I wanted to create a character that could potentially work in
the Mass Effect universe. I went with an alien race that was somewhat
amphibious in nature. The alien race is supposed to be one with their
surroundings; therefore, they use the materials in their habitat to
fashion their armor and weaponry. You can check out additional images of the character on my website:

Interesting characters head. But there is lack of colors on the character's skin.
Maybe this help somehow

I like to learn.

I really like the texture work. The patterns breaks up the overall gradients nicely.

Thanks for the comments guys!

To your feedback; the texture has quite a bit of color variation (see texture sheets on my website); however, it doesn't approach anything seen in the example document because the intent is different. I was going for something a little more realistic (Mass Effect) than (Dota2) painterly.

It is a very interesting concept and would fit right in with the IP. I love the textures, too.
