Asiza, Jarrod Hasenjager (3D)

Title: Asiza
Name: Jarrod Hasenjager
Country: South Africa
Software: After Effects, Maya, Mudbox, VRay

Asiza, spirit of the forest, is a depiction of the beauty and magic of nature.

Part of a series of 5 images, they all focus on nature in an attempt to capture a beautiful moment.

I used Maya for the modeling of the base meshes and then textured them in Mudbox. I rendered out the image in V-ray using multiple render elements, including a few custom made ones, and saved the image out as a multi-channel .exr. From their I brought the image into Nuke and edited each channel individually.

Hope you enjoy.

very cool!
How did you make the edge of the leaves so fuzzy? That's a great touch!

Thanks DLiang, I actually grew a fur solution on all the leaves to add that 'fuzzy' feel, it also helped to create a more natural looking rim light effect as well

WOW! Fantastic light and the depth of field is used well! There are some details on the modeling side, like the top of the bottle is way to sharp, or you used the same technique and nearly the same settings for the fuzzy edges on the laves and on the butterfly.
