Sly Cooper Thiefs in Time Box Art, John Hayes (3D)

Title: Sly Cooper Thiefs in Time Box Art
Name: John Hayes
Country: USA
Software: Modo, Photoshop

Box art for the PS3/Vita video game Sly Cooper Thief's in Time.

This is a sculpted Catmull-Clark Subdivision model of Sly Cooper, with a background painted by Issac Davis.

This high-rez mesh was initially created to be a render source for Ambient Occlusion and Normal maps for a matching real-time rez model used in-game. Instead of having to make another set of high-res models for marketing, I reused the geometries used to generate the in-game normal and diffuse texture maps. As a result, the image more accurately reflects the character as seen in-game.

All modelling, UVs, high-rez sculpt, textures, posing, rendering was done using Modo. Photoshop was used to edit the textures and adjust the final render.

Love the way the character was textured, and thanks for reminding me to go and get the game.
