David's Bow, Taha Alkan (3D)

Title: David's Bow
Name: Taha Alkan
Country: Turkey
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

Along the medieval ages to today, Michelangelo' s David has erected on the pedestal. David is 5 meters stand alone, totally all 7 meters length. Nobody could reach David to share same frame in a photo.

I dreamed David is crouched on his knee and extended hand to a little child who tries to reach David s hand.

I posed David s crouch position firstly by using a low poly model and detailed with Zbrush in 4 months with lots of reference photos from internet.

After all, touching hands are referred Michelangelo's other famous painting on Sistine Chapel ceiling, famous God and Adam fragment.

Hope you like it.

I much appreciate what you've done, after reading the description. I like this kind of showing something we all are familiar.

Great work!

Really nice idea! I realise this is finished, but it's such a good concept I have a few critiques if you don't mind?

Personally, I think it's a shame that you didn't pose David to have him looking at the boy I believe it would have added a good connection between the two.

The perspective of the overall scene looks off, this is most evident where the base of the pedestal meets the floor compared to the kid. Also following the perspective of the floor would position the two people in the foreground with their shins sunk into the ground

Anatomically speaking I'm by no means an expert but there are a few things that leap out to me, mainly his left clavicle - it's very pronounced and is lacking any clear attachment from the pectoral or deltoid muscles. There is also no clear definition of the acromion process which makes the shoulder region look strange.

I really love the you kept the proportions, the final render looks great and like I said, I really love the idea behind it!

Hi Tahaalkan.

This work and idea is stunning excellent.
I have just one critique same as AJ.
If David would look to the boy this would give your theme more emotion.

But anyway Michelangelo would be very amused !!!
Dont be disapointed I`m really exited about your work !

Regards Elysio.

Definately i will follow your works in the next time.

Actually firstly i decided to repose David only, after all, i added child to composition.
David keeps his cool looking, so it decreases general focus of image.

Beside all;

Thank u AJ for special comments and crits.
Thank u luzak1 for reading description
Thank u Elysio for support

You achieved the likeness, and I think David is always a great subject matter.
