YES! This just brought back so many great memories from my childhood. I'll definitely be drawing this one

Whereas I did enjoy the movie (nostalgia attack). I chose a more vague approach.

This time, I am not very happy with it, I will give it a second try

Whaaat, Myrid, this is nice! I like it!

Mine is a mess...I totally ignored the time and went over an hour with it for no reason. Then I just quickly wrapped it up with the silly and horrible jumping dino.

Anyway, I hardly remember the movie and don't connect good feelings with it, I think. Disney always went on my nerves, somehow.

Thanks, Taron. I did not know, there is a movie related to the topic, so my next try is a bit surreal.

Anyway, I like your entry as well, the colors in the background are wonderful. And the jumping dino is very funny

Nice Sketches. @ TheTeron: Not a Disney fan either, but I think that was Don Bluth's studio.
Disney is too glossy for me, but he sometimes went a bit darker. Oh, no! Now I just revealed that I know more about cartoons than I like to admit!

Myridiphis: I like both of yours! They're very flowing and energetic. First one could be a primordeal Earth where physics haven't yet stabilized. A bit distressing. The second one is quite possibly an abstract rendition of a dreamlike world without proper substance, also fitting the theme.

Taron: You could have run a "lighten" pass on the outlines of the jumping dinokid to make it blend better into the image. The mother's head is much more in harmony and nicely sculpted. Not sure if you want to run your sketches through Photoshop abuse though. I surely did with mine. It turned out completely different in "post production" compared to how I painted it! Turned up the brightness a great deal and made some funky color curves. I'm happy with it though, much more extravagant to look at this way. Might have run a little bit over time.

Oh, and your background is very nice to study zoomed in. It kind of inspires me to add some new brushes. Hey, what's the forecast on those Verve painting videos again by the way? You should be able to make some for free now if you just switch on screen recording for one of the sketch submissions

I would really love to see one of your "good paintings" captured this way.

Sazem: Ah, I really like the colors you got going in the top half, with the custard sky and blueberry mountains! The harsh saturated foreground imho distracts from it though, so I wanted to try pushing that down a bit and see what the overall look could be. Since I'm the inconsiderate paintover guy now I will share my results. As always, just say the word and I'll take it down.

Actually I went ahead and boosted the sky saturation too, so it's kind of reversed. Seems suitable for a valley in dawn shadow.

Really beautiful for a 15 minute sketch!

Its definetly looks better
I even like that its smaller.. Because I didnt have any real details so why have it big?
Btw I chose those colors pretty much referenced from photo, which I took while walking in mountain in Spain.

Uuh, keep'em coming, dystle, that's nice! I'm getting a mild "Battlefield Earth" flashback, because R.Christian was so proud of having every shot crooked, haha, but in your case it really has neat character...and a neat character!

drpetter, nice paint-over, it works well. As for my sloppy jumping dino, I purposely kept those outlines dark, hoping to resemble or even exaggerate the animation look of a painterly background and then cell shaded characters on it. I still shaded the character too much, which may make it look distracting, but then the whole thing is all over the place... ...next time I get carried away, I just don't cut it short. It was good fun, though.

Took me a while to get around to it but better late than never. (It's been a busy week.)
About 20 min.
